    CATONSVILLE, Md. -- Muhammad El-Amin scored 19 points as Stony Brook beat Maryland-Baltimore County 69-61 on Saturday night.

    Bryan Dougher added 19 points for the Seawolves (8-5, 1-0 American East Conference), who went 8 of 13 from the 3-point line. Dougher shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc.

    Darryl Proctor led UMBC (6-7, 0-1) with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Fry scored 12 points for the Retrievers, who have lost four out of five.

    Stony Brook jumped out to a 20-6 lead as UMBC started 3-for-16 from the field in the first. The Retrievers tied the score at 52-52 with 6:26 remaining when Proctor's layup capped a 12-3 UMBC run.

    But El-Amin hit a 3-pointer at the 3:43 mark in the second and Danny Carter followed with another with 2:55 left for a 60-54 Seawolves lead. Dougher then scored on a floater in the lane, capping a decisive 6-0 burst with 1:33 left.
