WASHINGTON -- Garrison Carr hit seven 3-pointers on his way to scoring 23 points as American won its third straight game with a 62-50 victory over Columbia on Monday night.

Carr was 7-for-9 from the 3-point line for the Eagles (8-6).

Up by six with 15 minutes left, the Eagles went on a 14-2 run, marked by Derrick Mercer's pair of putbacks and a dish to Carr for the first of consecutive 3-pointers.

Carr's shots gave American a 50-32 lead with 10 minutes left, and the Lions (4-9) never came closer than 11 the rest of the game.

Mercer added 12 points and Brian Gilmore scored 11 for the Eagles, who led 26-23 at halftime.

Noruwa Agho scored 11 points and Jason Miller had 10 to lead Columbia, which lost its third straight.
