WORCESTER, Mass. -- Andrew Keister had 17 points and 9 rebounds, and Pat Doherty came off the bench to key a decisive 15-4 run in the second half as Holy Cross beat Lafayette 81-67 on Saturday.
Holy Cross (6-10, 1-0 Patriot League) never trailed, opening up a 21-12 lead with 10:25 left on a layup by Colin Cunningham.Marek Koltun later scored to cut the lead to 25-21 with 5:21 left in the first half for Lafayette (4-11, 1-0).Doherty, however, scored four points as the Crusaders outscored the Leopards, 11-3, to take a 36-24 lead at the half. He rallied the Crusaders again with a steal, an assist and a pullup jumper during a 15-4 surge to make it 59-44 with 6:50 remaining.Jeff Kari finished with 16 points and four assists for Lafayette. Andrew Beinert added 16 and Ryan Willen ended up with 13.
