PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Matt Mullery scored 16 points, while Scott Friske and Peter Sullivan added 15 apiece as Brown University held off a second-half rally and defeated Bryant University, 69-56 on Saturday.
Mullery, who began the week ranked 10th nationally in field goal percentage, connected on 6 of 10 shots as the Bears (6-8) continued their dominance of the Bulldogs (2-13).
Nick Pontes led Bryant with 18 points, including eight early in the second half as the Bulldogs sliced a 13-point halftime deficit to 50-47 with 10:14 left in the game.
Brown countered with a 12-3 run that upped the Bears' lead to 62-50.
Sean Kane came off the bench in the first half and hit three 3-point baskets to key a 19-5 run that enabled Brown to turn a 20-19 deficit into a 38-25 halftime lead.
