BALTIMORE -- Marquise Kately scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures and Morgan State held off Norfolk State 74-70 on Monday night.
Kevin Thompson scored 15 and Rogers Barnes added 12 for the Bears (8-8, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who have won six of their past eight games. Reggie Holmes overcame a slow start to finish with 11 points and Rodney Stokes had 10 for Morgan State.
After finishing with one point in the first half, Holmes scored 10 points in a 14-4 run that gave the Bears a 59-50 lead with 8:40 remaining in the game.
Lyons cut the deficit to one with 1:05 remaining, but Jermaine Bolden answered with a 3-pointer on the next possession and the Bears held on for the victory.
