CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Stephen McDowell scored 27 points to help Chattanooga hold off The Citadel 76-70 on Monday night.
Stephen McDowell, who leads the Moccasins (6-10, 2-3 Southern Conference) in scoring, 3-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage, was 7 of 14 from the 3-point line.
McDowell's final 3-pointer gave Chattanooga a 71-65 lead before Austin Dahn hit a 3-pointer to cut the margin to 71-68 with 2:01 remaining.
Keyron Sheard's free throw stretched the lead to 72-68 with 34.7 seconds left before McDowell sealed it with two free throws with 17.6 seconds to go.
Chattanooga has won the past 10 meetings with The Citadel (7-9, 2-3).
Zach Urbanus scored 24 points and Demetrius had 15 points and 14 rebounds for The Citadel.
