LEXINGTON, Va. -- Chavis Holmes scored 24 points and Virginia Military Institute defeated Presbyterian 90-75 on Monday night.

The win was the 10th straight for the Keydets (14-2, 6-0 Big South Conference) and marked the first time VMI began conference play 6-0 since the 1976-77 season.

The game was tied at 16 with 11:53 to go in the first half, before VMI went on a 7-0 run spanning just less than 90 seconds for a 23-16 lead.

VMI, which leads the country with 97.1 points per game, was just 28 of 71 from the field (39.4 percent) against the Blue Hose (6-11, 3-3).

Willie Bell added 22 points and 12 rebounds, Austin Kenon scored 15 points, Keith Gabriel had 13 and Quinn Brownfield tallied 10 points for the Keydets.

Presbyterian was led by Al'Lonzo Coleman with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Bryan Bostic added 17 points and Travis Sligh chipped in 13 for the Blue Hose.
