CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Freshman Darryl Bryant scored a season-high 22 points and West Virginia used a fast start to beat Marshall 87-76 on Wednesday night.
West Virginia (12-4) coasted to its third straight win over intrastate rival Marshall (8-8). It marked only the second time in their last 11 meetings that a team won by double digits.
Bryant hit two 3-pointers in the first two minutes of the second half and
Alex Ruoff had another to extend West Virginia's 11-point halftime lead to 43-23.
Da'Sean Butler added 17 points, Ruoff scored 15 and
Devin Ebanks had 12 for West Virginia.
Shaquille Johnson scored 15 points and
Markel Humphrey added 13 for Marshall, which lost for the third time in four games.
Marshall's
Tyler Wilkerson, who averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in his three previous games, fouled out with 7:20 left and finished with nine points.
