WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Travis Taylor came off the bench to score 13 points and pull down eight rebounds as Monmouth beat Quinnipiac 74-63 on Saturday night.
Will Campbell added 12 points and six rebounds for the Hawks (5-13, 3-3 Northeast Conference), while
Alex Nunner and
Dutch Gaitley both finished with 11 points.
Louis Brookins had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Bobcats (8-9, 4-3), while
James Johnson added 12 points and
James Feldeine and
Bryan Geffen each finished with 11 points.
The teams traded the lead throughout the first half, but Gaitley's 3-pointer with one second remaining gave the Hawks a 30-29 lead at the break.
Quinnipiac then opened the second half with a 12-3 run and held the lead for most of the half, but Monmouth rallied and took the lead for good on Campbell's 3-pointer with 4:47 left to play.
The Hawks then sealed the win by making all six of their free throw attempts in the final 46 seconds.
