ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jermaine Taylor scored 19 of his 31 points in the second half as Central Florida pulled away to a 73-61 victory over Southern Mississippi on Wednesday night.
Taylor hit six of his first seven shots from the floor in the second half as the Knights (12-6, 2-2 Conference USA) raced to a 54-40 advantage.
The Golden Eagles (11-6, 2-2) went on a 7-0 run in the next 3:15 to cut Central Florida's lead to 54-47, but that was as close as they would come. The Knights shot 63 percent from the floor in the second half (15 of 24).
The Knights led for all but 6 seconds in the first 20 minutes, taking a 37-26 halftime lead.
