ALBANY, N.Y. -- Muhmmad El-Amin scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Stony Brook to a 58-45 victory over Albany on Friday night.
Bryan Dougher added 12 points as the Seawolves (10-0, 2-4 America East) beat Albany for the first time in the teams' last seven meetings.
Stony Brook trailed from the midway point of the first half until Dallis Joyner drained a 3-pointer two minutes into the second. His shot put the Seawolves up 30-28, and they stayed ahead for the rest of the game.
Albany cut the lead to 40-39 with 12 minutes left in the game on a 3-pointer from Will Harris, but Stony Brook countered with a 9-2 run to put the game out of reach.
Harris had 14 points and eight rebounds for Albany (11-8, 3-3 AE), which used a 12-0 sprint in the first half to go up 26-21 at the break.
Stony Brook last defeated Albany on Feb. 24, 2005.
