CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Sophomore forward Carlton Fay had 17 points Thursday night to lead Southern Illinois to a 68-57 victory over Missouri State.
Tony Boyle added 14 for Southern Illinois (10-11, 5-5 Missouri Valley). But the real star for the Salukis was senior Bryan Mullins, who scored 13 points, grabbed 10 assists and had five steals. He's only the second player in MVC history to accumulate 500 career assists and 250 career steals.
Creighton's Ryan Sears, who played from 1997-2001, is the only MVC player to surpass those marks.
After starting the league season 0-3, Southern Illinois has improved its MVC record to .500.
The Salukis led 39-31 at the half and ended the game on a 12-1 run to secure the victory.
Missouri State (9-12, 2-8) got 41 points from the bench, including Will Creekmore's 15 points and 13 rebounds.
