ATHENS, Ohio -- Jerome Tillman had 24 points to lead Ohio to an 89-59 victory over Northern Illinois on Thursday night in the Bobcats' highest scoring game of the season, one in which Northern head coach Ricardo Patton was ejected midway through the second half.
Justin Orr added 16 points and Kenneth Van Kempen had 12 for Ohio (11-10, 4-4 Mid-American Conference).
Darion Anderson, who was reinstated following a one-game suspension for an unspecified violation of team rules, led the Huskies (4-14, 2-6) with 17 points. Anderson played just 9 minutes in the first half, with one basket, but scored 15 in the second half, going 5-of-7 from the field and 5-of-6 at the line.
Northern Illinois stayed close for the first 10 minutes. A 3-pointer by
Steven Coleman gave Ohio its first double-digit lead at 21-10. The Bobcats increased the margin to 42-22 at halftime, and had gone up by 30 by the time Patton was ejected after picking up his second technical foul.
