DALLAS -- Marcus Cousin scored 14 points and had 14 rebounds to lead Houston to a 69-56 victory over SMU on Wednesday night.
Cousin made 6-of-11 field goals.
Aubrey Coleman scored a team-high 20 points and had three steals for the Cougars (15-7, 6-3 Conference USA).
Qa'rraan Calhoun added 13 points and seven rebounds while
Kelvin Lewis scored 11 points.
Zamal Nixon put up seven assists in the game, including one that led to a 10-point Houston lead and a Calhoun slam dunk with less than three minutes remaining.
Bamba Fall led SMU (7-15, 1-8) with 16 points.
Paul McCoy scored 10.
Houston outscored the Mustangs 32-14 in the paint and 18-6 in second-chance scoring opportunities.
