HOUSTON -- Stefon Jackson scored 23 points and Randy Culpepper added 20 to lead UTEP to a 67-58 victory over Rice on Wednesday night.

Jackson hit 8-of-15 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line for the Miners (16-9, 7-4 Conference USA). Culpepper and Arnett Moultrie each almost had double-doubles for UTEP. Moultrie had 11 points and both had nine rebounds.

Trey Stanton led the Owls (9-16, 3-8) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rodney Foster scored 15 points and had six assists.

UTEP took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Culpepper with 6:18 left in the second half and steadily pulled away to lead by as many as 10 with 2:23 left.
