NEW ORLEANS -- Kevin Sims scored 19 points to lead Tulane to a 57-51 victory over Marshall on Saturday.

Marshall held a 49-48 lead until Sims hit two free throws to give Tulane (11-15, 5-8 Conference USA) a 50-49 lead with 2:15 left in the game. He hit two more for a 52-49 lead with 1:32 remaining.

Sims, who has reached double figures in eight of his past nine games, went 11 of 11 from the free-throw line.

Marshall's Shaquille Johnson hit two free throws to cut the lead to 52-51 with 1:22 left, but the Thundering Herd (12-15, 4-8) didn't score again.

Tulane went 21 of 38 from the field (55.3 percent) for the game.

Kris Richard and Robinson Louisme scored 10 points each for Tulane, which had lost two consecutive games.

Markel Humphrey scored 16 points, Chris Lutz had 14 and Johnson finished with 13 points for Marshall.
