LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Tyson Johnson scored 19 points as Wyoming held on to beat TCU 61-56 on Saturday.

The Cowboys (16-10 overall, 5-7 Mountain West) led by as many as 11 points midway through the second half, only to see the Horned Frogs rally late.

Zvonko Buljan led TCU (14-13, 5-8) with 14 points, followed by Kevin Langford with 12 and Jason Ebbie with 11. Brandon Ewing added 16 for Wyoming.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, with Wyoming leading 24-21. The Cowboys turned to the fast break and took advantage of a tiring TCU squad with an 11-2 run to take an 11-point lead.

The Horned Frogs cut the lead to two on a 3-pointer by Edvinas Ruzgas with 1:48 remaining.

It was still a two-point game when Djibril Thiam and Ewing both made 1-of-2 free throws in the final minute. Ruzgas hit 1-of-2 from the line with 7.6 seconds left for a three-point Wyoming lead. Johnson was left wide open on the full court press for a dunk to close the scoring.
