SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- With the number of chances Syracuse had in the final seconds, Villanova coach Jay Wright figured one of the shots was bound to go in.Surprise, surprise.To Wright's relief, Syracuse's Eric Devendorf, followed by Paul Harris and finally Jonny Flynn all missed 3-point attempts in a furious final 10 seconds, allowing the Wildcats (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 12 AP) to hang on for an 89-86 victory over the Orange (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) on Sunday.
• Villanova has now won three straight against Syracuse for the first time since doing so from 1990-91 to 1991-92.
• The Wildcats have won three of their last four at the Carrier Dome. They are the only team with three wins there since 2005-06.
• The Orange have now lost six of their last eight and seven of their last 10.
