CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Kevin Dillard scored 21 points and Tony Boyle had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Southern Illinois to a 72-68 Missouri Valley win over Wichita State Saturday.
Carlton Fay chipped in 13 points for Southern Illinois (13-17, 8-10), while Justin Bocot added 10 points.Southern Illinois held on to a slim lead for much of the first period and took a 32-30 lead into the break. The Salukis outscored the Shockers 40-38 in the second half.Wichita State (15-15, 8-10) never led, though they managed to tie the game four times.Clevin Hannah scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting for the Shockers. J.T. Durley scored 13 points and A.J. Hawkins added 11.Wichita State shot 47.3 percent from the floor, while Southern Illinois shot 51.3 percent. Both teams struggled from 3-point range, with the Shockers hitting just 5-of-16, and the Salukis sinking 6-of-14.
