HOUSTON -- Aubrey Coleman had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Houston closed with a 15-2 run to beat Rice 56-51 Saturday.

Down 49-48, Coleman made a jump shot at the 2:28 mark, then added a layup about 20 seconds later to give the Cougars a 52-49 lead.

Houston (18-9, 9-5 Conference USA) made four free throws down the stretch against one layup from the Owls (9-19, 4-10).

Nick Mosley had 11 points and nine rebounds for Houston. Kelvin Lewis and Zamal Nixon scored 10 points each.

Trey Stanton led Rice with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Rodney Foster had six assists to go along with five points and two rebounds.
