TAMPA, Fla. -- Alex Ruoff scored all but three of his 16 points in the second half and West Virginia defeated South Florida 64-50 on Sunday.
Darryl Bryant had 13 points for the Mountaineers (20-9, 9-7 Big East) and
Devin Ebanks and
Kevin Jones chipped in 10 points each.
Dominique Jones scored 18 points to pace South Florida (8-20, 3-13).
Aris Williams added 11 points and
Chris Howard had 10 for the Bulls.
South Florida didn't hit a second-half shot from the floor until Howard drove the baseline for a layup with 14:39 left. By then, West Virginia took control with a 12-1 run that gave them a 40-28 lead. The Mountaineers eventually led by as many as 15.
Bryant had nine points during a first half that included seven lead changes, helping the Mountaineers take a 30-27 advantage into the break.
