BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Damian Lillard scored a career-high 27 points to help Weber State avenge its only conference loss by beating Montana State 84-64 on Tuesday night.
Kellen McCoy added 20 points for Weber State (21-8, 15-1 Big Sky), the conference's regular season champion. He scored 15 points in the first nine minutes, and the Wildcats built a double-digit lead with 14:10 to play in the first half. Weber State never let the margin slip below 11 the rest of the way, and Lillard helped put the game out of reach by scoring his team's first 12 points of the second half.
Erik Rush scored 16 points and Will Bynum added 14 for Montana State (12-16, 6-10), which had already secured sixth place and will play in a Big Sky tournament quarterfinal game against archrival Montana on Saturday.
Weber State, which fell 75-70 to MSU on Jan. 15 in Ogden, Utah, earned a first-round bye and will host the top four teams in the tournament March 10-11.
