EL PASO, Texas -- Stefon Jackson scored 30 points to lead UTEP to a 70-52 win over Alabama-Birmingham on Wednesday night.
Jackson, the all-time scoring leader for Conference USA, made 12-of-25 field goal attempts and went 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
Julyan Stone added 12 points and had nine rebounds for the Miners (18-11, 9-6 Conference USA).
Tavaris Watts added 10.
UTEP went up by 20 with 2:08 remaining in the game and led both halves.
The Blazers (20-10, 10-5) took the lead six times in the first, but Jackson scored seven quick points to open the second and the Miners never trailed afterward.
Robert Vaden scored 17 points including four 3-pointers for UAB. He leads the conference in 3-point shooting.
