JACKSON, Miss. -- Darrion Griffin scored 22 points to lead Jackson State to a 67-64 victory over Alabama State on Thursday night.
The Tigers (15-14, 14-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) won for the 10th time in 11 games and snapped Alabama State's nine-game winning streak. The Hornets (18-9, 15-2) have clinched a share of the conference title with one regular-season game remaining.
Jackson State and Alabama State split the regular-season meetings.
Griffin's layup gave Jackson State a 65-62 lead with 1:26 remaining in the game. Griffin and Jeremy Caldwell, who had 11 points and 10 rebounds, added free throws for a 67-62 advantage with 5 seconds left.
