GRAMBLING, La. -- Trant Simpson scored 21 points and Alabama A&M rallied to defeat Grambling State 63-45 Thursday night, ending a six-game skid.
The Bulldogs (8-17, 6-11 Southwestern Athletic Conference) trailed 30-25 at halftime, but outscored the Tigers 38-15 in the second half to win their first game since Feb. 7.
Simpson shot 8 of 13 from the field and was 4 of 6 from 3-point range for Alabama A&M, which made 26 of 49 field goals (53.1 percent) and 7 of 17 from beyond the arc.
Kudus Ogbara added 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Grambling State (6-22, 4-13), which defeated Alabama A&M 66-64 on Jan. 3, shot 34.5 percent from the field (19 of 55) and was 2 of 9 from 3-point range.
Donald Qualls, with 10 points, was the only player in double figures for the Tigers, who have lost seven straight.
Both teams close out their regular seasons Saturday.
