UNC's youth showed up in the turnover column Monday. The Tar Heels turned the ball over 26 times, tying for the the most they've committed in the Roy Williams' era. The most UNC had last season was 21.
• The defending champion Tar Heels opened the 100th season in school history with a win over FIU in Isiah Thomas' coaching debut.
• North Carolina earned the 1,985th victory in school history and has now won 30 straight nonconference home games.
• Twelve different players scored for UNC.
• FIU had four players score in double-digits, led by Marvin Roberts who had 18 points.
