PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Keith Cothran scored 16 points, leading four Rhode Island players in double-figure scoring as the Rams ran past Brown to win their season opener 78-57 on Wednesday night.
The Rams led by just a point at the half, but outscored the Bears (1-2) 47-27 in the second half. Rhode Island turned the ball over just nine times, capitalizing on 21 giveaways by the Bears.
Despite being outshot from 3-point range and at the foul line, Rhode Island won the game going 34-for-72 from the floor overall (47.2 percent). The Bears shot just 19-for-54 (35.2 percent).
