PHILADELPHIA -- Jawan Carter scored a career-high 35 points and Delaware eked out its first win of the season with a 97-94 double-overtime victory over Penn on Saturday night.

Carter made a school-record 19 free throws for the Blue Hens (1-2) -- breaking the record of 18 -- though he missed seven foul shots in the game.

Delaware was 11-for-20 from the line in overtime while Penn was 5-for-14.

Alphonso Dawson added 28 points for the Blue Hens.

The Quakers (0-3) led 50-40 at halftime and 67-52 with 11:50 left in regulation.

The Blue Hens tied the game at 80 with 44 seconds left on a D.J. Boney 3-pointer. Zack Rosen's layup put Penn ahead 82-80, then Hakim McCullar's tip-in at the buzzer forced overtime.

Penn missed shots as time expired in both overtimes, with Malcolm Washington's 3 bouncing off the backboard in the second OT.

Rosen led Penn with a career-high 25 points.
