Scheyer scores 24 in first half for No. 7 Duke in dominating victory
DURHAM, N.C. -- Everything that left Jon Scheyer's hand went where it was supposed to go: Straight to his teammates and, especially, through the rim.Scheyer had career highs of 36 points and nine assists to lead No. 7 Duke past Gardner-Webb 113-68 on Tuesday night.He was 11 of 13 from the field, had 24 points by halftime and finished with a personal-best seven 3-pointers to lead the Blue Devils (8-1). And as his stat line inched closer to a triple-double, his teammates joked that he earned a taste of the silent treatment.
• Duke beat Gardner-
Webb by 45 to extend its home win streak vs. nonconference opponents to 74, the longest active streak in the nation.
• The 113 points scored by the Blue Devils are their most since scoring 115 in a win vs. Clemson in 2001.
• Jon Scheyer set career highs in points (36), field goals (11), 3-pointers (7) and assists (9).
