SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Cross No. 5 Syracuse off the list of unbeatens.Ashton Gibbs scored 24 points and Jermaine Dixon added 21 to lead Pittsburgh to an 82-72 victory Saturday over the Orange. The loss was Syracuse's fourth straight at home to the Panthers (12-2, 2-0 Big East) and dropped the number of major unbeaten teams to four, with other unbeatens scheduled to play later Saturday.Syracuse (13-1, 1-1) sailed through the nonconference portion of its schedule, easily, beating North Carolina and California at Madison Square Garden and Florida in Tampa.
• The Panthers have won four straight at the Carrier Dome and seven straight regular-season games against the Orange.
• Syracuse connected on 1 of 13 3-point attempts (7.7 percent), its worst 3-point shooting performance at home since 2005.
• Jermaine Dixon scored a career-high 21 points for Pittsburgh.
