DALLAS -- Papa Dia scored 16 points and Derek Williams added 12 to lead SMU to a 78-50 victory against North Carolina Central on Saturday.

Paul McCoy had 10 points and six steals for the Mustangs (6-8), who shot a season-high 65 percent (32 of 49) from the floor.

Nick Chasten led North Carolina Central (2-14) with 16 points and seven rebounds. C.J. Wilkerson added 13 points.

SMU led 36-19 at halftime and squelched any hope of a North Carolina Central comeback by opening the second half with a 15-2 run. During the stretch, McCoy had three steals that led to layups, and Papa had seven points.
