WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Quinn McDowell scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures and William & Mary defeated James Madison 85-78 on Thursday night.
The Tribe (12-2, 5-1 Colonial Athletic Association) led 75-63 on David Schneider's 3-pointer with 3:13. But the Dukes (8-8, 2-4) used a 19-3 run to close within four, 82-78, on a Pierre Curtis layup with 23 seconds remaining.
The Dukes then missed a shot and turned the ball over as William and Mary sealed it on three free throws for its third straight win.
Denzel Bowles scored 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting for James Madison, which lost for the first time in four meetings with the Tribe.
Darren White and Curtis added 15 points apiece for the Dukes.
