AMHERST, Mass. -- Derrio Green scored a career-high 34 points to lead Charlotte to a 72-58 victory over Massachusetts on Saturday night.

The 49ers (16-5, 5-1 Atlantic 10 Conference), who led 37-36 with 16:10 remaining, went on a 21-5 run over the next 9:40 to take command against the Minutemen (8-11, 2-5).

Charlotte remained tied for the conference lead with Temple, a half-game ahead of Xavier, which hosts Fordham on Sunday.

Green, whose previous high was 31 points in a 76-67 loss to Georgia Tech on Jan. 2, was 8-for-16 from 3-point range. He scored 21 of his points in the first half, when Charlotte had a 15-0 run and came away leading 34-26.

Ricky Harris scored 25 points to lead Massachusetts, which outscored Charlotte 38-12 in the paint but shot only 14.3 percent (4-for-28) on 3-pointers to 42.9 percent (9-for-21) for the 49ers.
