WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Amin Stevens and Yannick Crowder scored 13 points apiece as Florida A&M defeated Winston-Salem State 75-61 in a nonconference game on Saturday.

Stevens scored twice on layups during an 11-3 run for the Rattlers (8-20) at the start of the second half, which gave them a 42-24 lead.

The Rams (11-16) got within four, 44-40, with 12:47 remaining, but two free throws and a jumper by Crowder, and 3-pointers by Christopher Walker and Dale Hughes, made it 54-40 at the 10:18 mark.

A layup by Walker gave Florida A&M a 31-29 lead at the end of a first half in which the Rams led by as many as 10 points but were hurt by 14 turnovers.

Shelton Carter scored 12 points to lead Winston-Salem State. Brian Fisher and Paul Davis, who came in as the Rams' two leading scorers, were held to five points and two points, respectively, and combined to shoot 2-for-10 from the field.
