BU reaches America East title game for first time since 2003

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Corey Lowe scored 24 points off the bench, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 4:33 left and Boston University defeated Stony Brook 70-63 on Sunday night in an America East Conference tournament semifinal.

The fourth-seeded Terriers (19-12) advance to the title game for the first time since 2003 and will try for their first title since 2002.

They will play at Vermont next.

Top-seeded Stony Brook (22-9), which has an automatic NIT bid after winning the regular season title, erased a 16-point lead created by a 15-0 Boston U. run near the end of the first half.

But Lowe's 3 was a key in a 9-0 run to give the Terriers the lead for good.

Carlos Strong added 15 points and eight rebounds for Boston U.

America East Player of the Year Muhammad El-Amin had 20 points for the Seawolves, along with eight of their 19 turnovers.
