Cal Poly-SLO 54, Hawaii 53

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Chris O'Brien's rebound basket at the buzzer lifted Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo to a 54-53 victory over Hawaii Wednesday night.

Shawn Lewis, who led the Mustangs (3-3) with 15 points, missed a shot and Will Donahue also missed in the final seconds before O'Brien grabbed the ball and scored as the horn sounded.

David Hanson finished with 14 points for Cal Poly and O'Brien had 11.

Zane Johnson led Hawaii (5-1) with 11 points. Joston Thomas, who put the Rainbow Warriors ahead with a basket with 22 seconds to play, added 10 in Hawaii's first road game of the season.

Cal Poly shot just 33 percent from the field in the game, compared with Hawaii's 51 percent, but the Mustangs took 19 more shots. Both teams had 18 field goals.
