LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Patrick Richard scored 24 points to help McNeese State rally past Louisiana-Lafayette 69-66 on Wednesday night.
McNeese trailed 43-25 at halftime, but went on a 24-5 run to take a one point lead at 49-48 on a basket by Diego Kapelan with 8:35 to play. Each team could build no more than a 3-point lead the rest of the way. McNeese took the lead for good at 65-64 on a 3-pointer by Richard with 1:38 to play.The Cowboys (3-3) led 67-66 and Tyson Queen sealed it with two free throws with 4 seconds remaining. Kapelan added 14 points for the Cowboys.McNeese State won despite shooting 38.5 percent (20 of 52) from the field.Travis Bureau had a double-double with 17 pints and 10 rebounds to lead Louisiana-Lafayette (1-5), which lost its fourth straight game. Randell Daigle added 14 points for the Ragin' Cajuns.
