ATHENS, Ohio -- DeAndre Kane scored 18 points and Marshall made 10 of 12 free throws down the stretch in a 65-57 win over Ohio on Saturday.
The Thundering Herd (5-2) led 37-27 and the Bobcats (4-3) went on a 16-6 run to tie it at 43.
Marshall then brought the lead back to 51-45 but Ohio once again rallied, knotting it up again at 55 on D.J. Cooper's 3 with 3:35 to play.
From that point, the Thundering Herd made it count from the free-throw line and the Bobcats went 0 for 3 from 3-point range.
The Thundering Herd shot 72.2 percent from the line in the second half (13 of 18) and Kane finished shooting 7 of 12 from the foul line for the game.
Tirrell Baines had his eighth career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Marshall.
