HOUSTON -- Andrew Gonzalez scored 27 points Saturday night to lead Houston Baptist to an 88-81 nonconference victory over Texas State.
Gonzalez went 10 of 18 from the floor and had five steals.
The balanced Bobcats (2-4) placed five players in double figures. Jonathan Sloan led Texas State with a season-high 14 points. Cameron Johnson had 12, while Travis Jones and Todd Bowman added 11 each and A.J. Stewart had 10 points, eight rebounds and five blocks.
Houston Baptist shot 52.2 percent (35 of 67) to just 42.9 percent (30 of 70) for the Bobcats, who held a 45-39 rebounding advantage.
The Huskies took an eight-point lead with 3:17 left on Gonzalez's 3-pointer. Texas State got no closer than five the rest of the way.
