FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Tyler Murray had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Wagner beat Sacred Heart 73-68 in overtime on Saturday.
Wagner (4-3, 1-0 Northeast Conference) entered the game as the nation's best free throw shooting team, making 82.1 percent. The Seahawks converted 26 of 32 free throw attempts (81.3 percent) Saturday, including 9 of 12 in overtime to secure the win.
Murray made 6 of 7 free throw attempts for the game and Latif Rivers, who scored 21 points for Wagner, made 9 of 10.
Sacred Heart led 60-56 with 37 seconds to go in regulation, but a 3-pointer by Rivers cut the lead to 60-59 with 24 seconds left. Murray was fouled with 8 seconds remaining, missed the first free throw and made the second to send the game to overtime.
