WORCESTER, Mass. -- Freshman Dave Coley made the winning layup with 1.2 seconds left to lift Stony Brook to a 54-53 victory over winless Holy Cross on Tuesday night.

The Seawolves (4-4), who ended a three-game skid, trailed for most of the game, including 28-20 at the half.

After Stony Brook tied the game at 45 on a Coley jumper with 8:35 to go, the Crusaders (0-7) twice built a five-point lead, the last time at 53-48 with 3:29 left.

But with the score 53-52, Holy Cross missed two 1-and-1s in the last 1:36.

The Crusaders outshot the Seawolves 46.8 percent (22 of 47) to 35.8 percent (19 of 53) and had a 39-28 rebounding edge.

But Stony Brook scored 17 points off 22 Holy Cross turnovers, while turning the ball over only 11 times.

Danny Carter led the Seawolves with 10 points and Coley had nine.

Devin Brown led Holy Cross with 21 points, but only had five in the second half.
