Fresno St. 74, San Diego 70

SAN DIEGO -- Greg Smith scored a season-high 19 points as Fresno State broke a four-game losing streak with a 74-70 victory over San Diego on Tuesday night.

Garrett Johnson added 15 points and Tim Steed had 12, including four in the final minute, for the Bulldogs (2-5), who prevailed after surrendering a double-digit lead in the second half.

Darian Norris scored 14 points for the Toreros (1-7), who have lost seven straight since a season-opening win over Division III Occidental.

Fresno State held a 12-point lead with 10 1/2 minutes to play before San Diego used a 15-3 run to tie the score at 54-all with 7:07 remaining. The Bulldogs built a 70-65 lead with 48 seconds to go and held on by making 4-of-6 free throws.
