FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Jerrell Thompson had five points and a steal in the last 38 seconds as Sacred Heart rallied for a 56-55 win over Hartford on Wednesday night.

The Pioneers (2-7) trailed 51-31 with 8:17 left before an 8-1 run brought them within 13, 52-39, on Shane Gibson's 3. Sacred Heart then went 11 of 12 from the free-throw line over the next 4:29 to pull within two, 52-50, on a pair of foul shots by Thompson.

The Hawks (2-7) brought the lead back to five, 55-50, on Clayton Brother's three-point play with 1:11 remaining. From there Thompson hit a layup with 38 seconds to go, followed by a 3, and stole it from Joe Zeglinski with 2 seconds left. Stan Dulaire then made a free throw with no time left.

Gibson finished with 16 points, Dulaire 12 and Thompson 11 for Sacred Heart, which snapped a three-game skid.

Zeglinski led the Hawks, who led 25-18 at halftime, with 16 points.
