CHICAGO -- Tyrae Robinson made a driving layup with 2.7 seconds remaining in overtime to give Ball State a 79-77 victory over DePaul on Saturday night.
DePaul's Brandon Young had a chance to win the game as time expired, but his 3-point attempt missed.
Jones banked in a jumper to give Ball State a 77-75 lead with 50 seconds left in overtime, but Krys Faber answered for DePaul with a pair of free throws. On the Cardinals' next possession, Robinson, who finished with nine points, drove through the lane for the winner.
Young finished with 23 points and Cleveland Melvin 19 for the Blue Demons (3-6), who played a rare home game at McGrath Arena on the Lincoln Park campus.
Trailing 70-69, Ball State sent the game into overtime after Jones was fouled with 3 seconds remaining in regulation. He made his first free-throw attempt, but missed the second.
The Cardinals led by as many as 10 early in the second half, but DePaul came back and took the lead on a four-point play. Melvin finished a layup after getting intentionally fouled by Berry and made two free throws to give DePaul a 59-58 advantage with 5:07 remaining in regulation.
Mike Stovall had 12 points for DePaul.
