ALBANY, N.Y. -- Tim Ambrose scored 21 points and the go-ahead basket with 8 seconds left to lead Albany (N.Y.) to a 64-63 victory over Central Connecticut State on Saturday night.

The score was tied at 60 when Ambrose hit a jumper to give the Great Danes (5-6) a 62-60 lead. Ralph Watts added two free throws for Albany and Shemik Thompson's 3-pointer with 2 seconds left wasn't enough for Central Connecticut State (4-5).

The Blue Devils trailed by 18 points in the final half and cut the lead to 54-38 before going on a 22-3 run to take a 60-57 lead on Ken Horton's jumper with 2:18 remaining.

Albany scored the next seven points and Central Connecticut State didn't score again until Thompson's 3-pointer.

Mike Black added 15 points and Luke Devlin had 11 rebounds for Albany.

Robby Ptacek matched his career-high with 26 points and Horton finished with 15 points for the Blue Devils.
