Mississippi St. 74, N. Carolina A&,T 58

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Ravern Johnson scored 17 points to lead Mississippi State to a 74-58 victory over North Carolina A&T on Sunday.

The Bulldogs (5-2) hit 15 3s and shot 25 of 56 from the field (44.6 percent), rebounding from Saturday night's 63-62 loss to East Tennessee State. The Bulldogs outrebounded the Aggies 45-37 and scored 16 points off of 13 North Carolina A&T turnovers.

The Aggies (5-4) made only 23 of 65 shots (41 percent) and were 7 of 25 from beyond the arc (28 percent).

Mississippi State led 41-21 at the half and dominated throughout, ending a two-game losing streak.

Johnson was 6 of 14 in the game and 5 of 10 from beyond the arc.

Riley Benock added a career-high 15 points on 5 of 7 shooting from beyond the arc and chipped in eight rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Nic Simpson paced North Carolina A&T with 16 points and Thomas Coleman scored 14. Simpson was 6 of 17 from the field with two 3-pointers, and Coleman was 7 of 13.

This is the second game in a four-game stretch for Mississippi State in as many days.

Renardo Sidney and Dee Bost, two projected starters for the Bulldogs, did not play because of NCAA suspensions.

Sidney is eligible to return Dec. 18 against Virginia Tech, and Bost will be eligible for the start of Southeastern Conference play in January.

Both are expected to play in Wednesday's exhibition game against Alabama State in Jackson, Miss.
