INDIANAPOLIS -- Matt Howard opened the second half with 10 straight points and finished with 27, leading Butler to an 83-50 rout of Stanford on Saturday.
It was the first time CBS televised a game from Hinkle Fieldhouse, and the Bulldogs (6-4) rekindled images of last season's run to the national championship game with their biggest win of the season.
Stanford (6-3) was led by Jeremy Green with 16 points but shot just 31.4 percent.
It wasn't even close. Butler took control with a 20-4 run midway through the first half, led by 19 at halftime and put it away when Howard outscored the Cardinal 10-0 to open the second half. That made it 51-22 with 17:15 left.
Stanford was the first Pac-10 team to visit Butler since Southern Cal in 1965.
