Army 88, Brown 86

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Mitch McDonald's layup with 21 seconds remaining broke an 84-84 tie and Army defeated Brown 88-86 on Tuesday night.

The victory was the first this season for the Black Knights (6-6) in four games against Ivy League opponents.

Peter Sullivan, who led the Bears (4-5) with 24 points, missed a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left. Nathan Hedgecock's two free throws gave Army an 88-84 lead with 0:06 to go.

Army's 22-6 second-half rebounding advantage helped the Black Knights rally from a 46-38 halftime deficit. A 13-2 run gave Army a 64-57 lead, but Brown battled back to lead by five on four occasions, the last at 82-77 with 4:03 left.

Jeremy Hence had 21 points and eight rebounds for Army and Julian Simmons scored 17. Simmons' three 3-pointers moved him into sixth place on Army's career list with 131.

Sullivan is now 14th on Brown's career scoring list at 1,172 points.
