TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Charvez Davis came off the bench to score a career-high 22 points and lead Alabama to a 71-51 victory over Lipscomb on Tuesday night.

Tony Mitchell had 18 points, JaMychal Green 14 points, Chris Hines 10 rebounds and Trevor Releford five assists as Alabama evened its record at 6-6, with all of its wins coming at home.

Jordan Burgason had 13 points, Adnan Hodzic 12 points and Josh Slater 10 for Lipscomb. Brandon Barnes had eight rebounds for the Bisons.

The loss snapped a five-game win streak for Lipscomb, with the Bisons' previous losses coming against then-No. 8 North Carolina in the season opener and to No. 9 Baylor.

With the score tied at 13, the Crimson Tide went on a 22-6 run to bolt to a 35-19 lead. With one second left before halftime, two free throws by Josh Slater made the score 35-21 at the break.

"We set the tone defensively," Alabama coach Anthony Grant said. "Eventually, when we got some shots falling, we got the lead and were able to stretch the lead."

The Bisons came into the game shooting 47.5 percent from the floor, but in the first half only made 8 of 31 (25.8 percent) from the field and 1 of 8 (12.5 percent) from 3-point range, while Alabama converted 15 of its 37 field-goal attempts (40.5 percent) to grab the lead and stay comfortably in front the rest of the way.

Lipscomb pulled to within eight, 45-37, with 11:51 to go, but a fast-break layup by Releford and three consecutive 3-point baskets by Davis extended the lead to 56-37. The largest lead of the game was 71-47 with 1:44 remaining.

"Once I got going, I just wanted to keep shooting," Davis said. "Guys were telling me just to keep shooting."

"Wow, I didn't see that coming at all," Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson said. "Give credit to Alabama. We didn't play very well at all. Alabama did a good job defensively. We competed for about five minutes in the second half and that was all."

The son of former Crimson Tide coach Wimp Sanderson, Scott Sanderson, when asked if he enjoyed returning to his hometown, said, "No, not all. I didn't enjoy one thing about it."
