STATESBORO, Ga. -- Eric Ferguson had 17 points and four steals, including one with 21 seconds left in overtime, as Georgia Southern defeated Georgia State 74-72 on Wednesday night.

Georgia State's Jihad Ali had the ball with the game tied at 72 before Ferguson took it away. Eleven seconds later Ben Drayton, who finished with 19 points, made both his free throws for the final margin.

The Panthers (4-5) had one more possession but again turned the ball over, their 21st, compared to 18 for the Eagles (4-9).

Georgia Southern trailed 31-27 at halftime and shot 66.7 percent in the second half (16 of 24). The Eagles led 63-52 with 2:53 left in regulation but Georgia State scored 11 straight to tie it.

James Fields' layup with 8.4 seconds left sent it into overtime.
